Difference Between YJV Cable And VV Cable

2020-11-12

YJV, VV are two types of cables with different insulation materials. General indoor permanent projects tend to choose YJV cables. VV cables are generally used for low-voltage systems and YJV cables are used for high-voltage systems. YJV cable is superior to VV cable in temperature resistance, pressure resistance and corrosion resistance. Only the price is more expensive.

Difference between YJV cable and VV cable

YJV-copper cross-linked polyethylene insulated PVC sheathed power cable.

VV - copper core PVC insulated PVC sheathed power cable.

YJV—voltage level (kV) 6~500, maximum allowable operating temperature 90°C.

VV-voltage level (kV) 1 ~ 6, the maximum allowable operating temperature 65 ~ 70 °C.

The VV cable is a PVC insulated PVC sheath that is a thermoplastic material.

YJV cable is a cross-linked PVC insulated PVC sheath, which is a thermosetting material.

Because of the different materials, VV and YJV cables allow different maximum temperatures for long-term operation.

1. The maximum rated temperature of VV cable conductors is 70 degrees Celsius, and the shortest temperature (less than 5 seconds) does not exceed 160 degrees Celsius.

2. YJV cable (YJLV) cable conductors operate at a maximum rated temperature of 90 degrees Celsius. When short-circuited (less than 5 seconds in duration), the maximum temperature does not exceed 250 degrees Celsius.

Therefore, the two types of cables have different current carrying capacities and YJV is larger.
