4 kinds of test experiments for the mechanical

by:AAA     2021-03-05

Formal wires and cables need to undergo rigorous performance tests and experiments before they leave the factory. Only the test data meets the standards before they can leave the factory. The testing process is also an important part of cable production. The industry has a set of standards for testing. And test items, of which the mechanical performance test of wire and cable is a big project. The mechanical performance test is divided into many specific small tests, including mechanical strength test, bending performance test, torsion performance test, winding performance test, etc. . It can be said to be quite strict and meticulous.

The purpose of the mechanical strength test is to detect the ability of the cable to resist external forces. The mechanical strength requirements are mainly tensile strength and elongation. The specific test is to perform the elongation of the metal conductor, copper wire or aluminum wire of the cable, and the insulation sheath Strength and elongation.

Wire and cable are often subjected to various bending external forces during use and production. If the bending performance is not good, the cable is prone to cracks during use, which directly affects the performance and service life of the cable. Therefore, The bending performance test is also an important mechanical performance test.

The bending test is divided into repeated bending and unidirectional bending tests. The resistance to bending is generally measured by the number of bending the material bears. The more the number of bending, the better the bending resistance of the material. The so-called number of bending means that the material sample is continuous, uniform and repeated on the bending tester. The total number of bends until the previous break. The test method of the bend test: fix one end of the sample, and make the free end along a cylinder with a specified radius for a 90° bend test in the forward and reverse directions until the test piece breaks.

The main purpose of the torsion performance test is to determine the plastic deformation of the metal wire under torsion and to show whether the metal structure is uniform and surface defects or partial internal defects. Wires such as copper, aluminum and steel wires pass the torsion test, and judge whether the wire meets the requirements according to the number of torsion at the time of the break. In the sampling test of ACSR, the torsion test of the steel wire must be done.

Another kind of mechanical performance test is the winding performance test. The wire and cable product standard stipulates that the metal wire should have good winding performance. The winding test method is to wind the test piece around a test bar with a specified diameter for a specified number of turns, and observe the changes on its surface. There are two winding methods: repeated winding and one-time winding. In the test, a winding method is used in accordance with the product standard.
