Cable TV and equipment thieves in Cape Town seem to have discovered a new modus operandi, stealing important equipment from three public swimming pools.
At Manenberg, the retreat and the Palo north pool were targeted, with thousands of stolen equipment leading to the closure of these popular pools.
The steel pipe, gauge and valve on the filter are drawn from the indoor pool.
The power cable of the Manenberg swimming pool was stolen.
Parow North pool was stolen from a chlorine booster, two pump-increasing motors, metering systems, chlorine masks, PVC pipes, copper pipes and other accessories.
Community service and health Mayor\'s Committee member Ahmed merszahid Badroodien says these thefts are a terrible blow to swimmers in need of training and children in areas that love these facilities
The theft of the indoor swimming pool on vacation means that the \"Learn to Swim\" program has to be canceled, and the swimming club where it is trained must find an expensive alternative venue.
The theft of cables from Manenberg pool means that the facility does not have electricity, which affects the water quality.
On January, a staff member patrolling around the pool tried to close a damaged hole in the fence and threw a brick at him.
A few weeks ago, the contractor\'s vehicle was stoned to death.
\"We are still evaluating the situation of the Parow North swimming pool, where a similar incident occurred on or around human rights day,\" said Badroodien . \".
\"What makes this even more disappointing is that the pool is being filled with the purpose of being open to the public.
These plans have now been destroyed.
Badroodien said the city spent millions of dollars to help maintain clinics, libraries and community facilities.
Such as recreation center-
Away from criminals, it cost nearly £ 40 on security measures such as guards, bars and lighting.
