MUSKOKA LAKES —
The cogoko cable is cutting off the service in Barra.
Randy Brown is the owner of Barra Lodge\'s desire.
He recently received a call from Cogeco \"suddenly\" informing him that the CRTC was obliged to notify the customer 30 days before the cancellation of the service.
\"They will suspend all cable services in Barra from June 5.
There is no reason to just ask them to let us know 30 days in advance to find a new supplier . . . . . . In the desire of the cottage and in our square in Barra, we use Cogeco TV in the cafe, restaurant and my residential unit.
\"I think from now on, there will be ugly satellite antennas in the square,\" Brown said . \".
Neither the mascoka Lake Chamber of Commerce nor the town received notice of suspension of service.
\"Wow, I haven\'t heard of it.
This will not affect the Chamber of Commerce, but we need to tell the members.
I have nothing from Cogeco, and I will call them as soon as possible, \"said Nora fountain, general manager of the Lake mascoka Chamber of Commerce.
\"I don\'t know the news.
This is the first time we have heard this.
We have not yet received notice from Cogeco regarding the suspension of services, \"said Corey Moore, an expert in communications and economic development in the town.
In a notification letter sent to Cottage Cravings on April 23, they advised the service to stop and advised the customer to \"If you would like to continue to receive a TV service after this date\", please contact the new TV provider.
In a statement sent to the mascoka region, Gabriel Beausejour, senior advisor for public relations and external communication, repeated similar information.
\"This decision was not made at the kogko light rate, but after careful evaluation of our technical situation in the Barra area, we concluded that, we are no longer able to achieve the goal of providing our customers with the best TV experience.
So we can confirm that, unfortunately, as of June 5, 2018, Cogeco connection will stop providing television services in the Bala region to a very small number of customers.
Other services are not provided by Cogeco connection in this area.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Brown and other business owners in the region say there are no other cable providers in Barra.
\"I am very concerned about the elderly in our area who may have a budget and don\'t know much about technology and have to find new suppliers now,\" Brown said . \".
\"I think the minimum level of service should be provided to all residents.
\"Rodi Deyer is a resident of Barra and does not know that she has 30 days to look for a new cable provider.
She said she did not receive a letter or phone call from Cogeco informing her that she was about to cancel the service.
\"We have had Cogeco since we moved here, for almost seven years . . . . . . This is the first time I have heard of it . . . . . . There are not many choices at the beginning, deyell \".
Nicole Richard, the owner of the Bala Hook and Ladder restaurant, will expand her business this year, including a bar and three TVs, and she now has to find a satellite TV provider compared to cable TV.
Randy Brown also said he would miss out on the specific weather forecast that cogko provided for Balati.
\"One of the things I miss most when I lose Cogeco is the weather channel that is unique to Bala weather.
All of our customers were amazed that we had a \"bala specific\" Weather Channel.
\"Contractors will plan their working days according to forecasts,\" Brown said . \".
